This conference sponsored by Cherokee Historical State Park of Aurora is in salute to the numerous segregated recreation facilities in the United States that existed until 1964 when legal segregation was ended in America. It was in theses spaces that African Americans were free to enjoy the great outdoors. Scholars/activists who have researched theses spaces are coming together collectively to share information with the general public.
